I believe there's always a reason for cake!

Whether you're celebrating a birthday, hosting or raising money for a charity event, or simply want something to put out when people come over for a brew - cake is one of the many ways we show our appreciation for each other.

I've loved baking since I was a child, standing on a stool making chocolate eclairs in the early hours of the morning is one of my favourite memories. Of course, it's helped being brought up in a family of wonderful home bakers (and a professional chef!).

I now work for the NHS but my previous career was in catering and hospitality, where I worked as a chef in pub kitchens before taking on position as pastry chef at a 2-rosette hotel restaurant in the Peak District.
